I like this a lot. I like the wires even. I have weird tastes.
Also saw another El Camino. I NEED ONE! Or a Ranchero.

One of my high school buddies had a blue monty carlo, put a 302 in it and proceeded to burn rubber all over town. It was a fun car for a high school kid.

They came with a 305...

I have a 1987 El Camino I would be willing to sell for the right money. 350/290 crate, 3 peed auto, headers, Edelbrock intake, new Holley Street Demon 625 carb, new valve covers and fel pro gaskets, AC, new front and rear tires and springs, new alignment, new shocks all around, all new front end, new UMI rear sway and lower rear control arms, leather buckets, cen ter console, electric windows, recent paint, no rust (was a Florida car) , bed cover, Bluetooth stereo. 132,000 miles. Pretty straight. Needs a gas gauge or possibly a sending unit.
Never mind, I just read through that list and I am keeping it.

OK, this is big bucks, and an automatic, yet ridiculously awesome. It has (from the factory) :
- hidden headlights
- fake wood paneling
- hood scoop
- vinyl roof
- and oh yeah, a 429 Cobra Jet

I mean for the right price I would be willing to let it go... It has taken me a year to get it running and driving right. It’s actually in the shop right now getting new front springs, new front tires and an alignment (I did the rear springs the other day) . It’s a fun car that could be driven as is now or it could continue to be customized. I have some Speedhut gauges that will be going in at some point soon. GPS speedo, tachometer are already on hand and I am going to be getting a fuel and temp gauge and the senders for each. It also has an AEM AFR gauge. It has an open 3.08 rear, so it can cruise fine on the highway and will still lay one long, smokey tire track if you want to impress the ladies... Engine has just under 11,000 miles on it. Transmission was rebuilt at the same time and shifts great. Hope to have the AC back up and running but I need a solenoid to increase the idle speed when it’s turned on.

Fact.

I’d actually drive this in the suburban wasteland it appears to be parked in. If you are locked into a geographic sprawl you might as well adapt to the slow moving and high population density.
DD’ing it putting on mainly highway miles in rush hour traffic, nope.

His started with a V6 or slant six, I don’t remember. I do recall that the 305 (sorry forgot it was a 305 not a 302
) was a bolt on swap.

Gotcha. I bet the v6 was a dog. I love those wheels too. I was just looking at Daytons the other day. Not a cheap option!

This is closer to my price range. https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/csw/ctd/d/1979-ranchero/6649006875.html

Oh, the price on the one I posted is ridiculous. But such a cool car.
The one you posted is pretty cool too - and looks to be a NP.

I like the Monte but would like it better with different wheels. I do have a preference for G-bodies though. Mine is a ‘79 with air, buckets, factory 4 speed, and (unfortunately) a 305. I love my EC. It would take far more than it is worth for me to give it up, as I got it from my dad.

3 peed auto, because something something taking the piss.

A 4 peed with overdrive would be the best.

I know right?? Just wish the price wasn’t so ridiculous - but at the same time, I’m sure numbers-matching 429 CJ Rancheros aren’t exactly easy to find.

I get that. My dad had at least two he thinks but saw no reason to keep them. So upsetting.
